NetballSmart engagement across the zone remains at an all-time high with our NetballSmart Development Officer, Gwen, delivering 20 workshops alone across the month of May.
She is further supported by loads of NetballSmart Centre Activator deliveries in the Invercargill Centre and up in the Central Otago hub.
Highlights this month have included two workshops with students at Menzies College, where the NetballSmart warm-up was perfected, strength and landing skills taught and tips shared on health and balancing their netball journey. Similarly, Aparima College enjoyed a workshop with their secondary school netballers, further adding to their session the strength and fitness benchmarks a NZSS player would need to demonstrate.
Meeting the pioneering Year 7-8 team travelling to Aims Games later this year was a joy!
What a cool bunch of netballers and such dedicated coaches, managers and parents.
Shout out to East Taieri Primary school who managed to get 23 coaches registered to a fabulous Y1-6 coaching workshop on the 18th of May. To be invited along to co-present was a joy. Outram School who include Middlemarch, Lee Stream and Waihola schools in their Netball programme have also been incredibly proactive inviting Gwen along to work on their warm-up and landing skills.
Further highlights for May were working with senior netballers at South Otago Netball Centre on consolidating a strong warm-up, the Dunedin based Emerging and Aspiring Talent squads on Female Athletic Health (Smart Health), Southland Girls Snr A & B on strength and Smart Health, two Developing Physical Capacity workshops (Invercargill and Cromwell) for up-and-coming coaches, working with North Otago Netball Centre’s U14,16, 18 Development programme and Dunedin Netball Centres U14 Development and Y7-8 Get Ready for Netball. We continue to reach out to the centres and schools zone wide offering NetballSmart input.
