Netball New Zealand’s Year 7&8 PDP
Netball New Zealand’s Year 7&8 PDP is an extension programme for year 7 & 8 players. It includes Fundamental Movement Skills, Athlete Development, and Technical & Tactical Netball Skills, and includes a comprehensive programme outline complete with session plans, and provides multiple delivery formats so that your can tailor the programme to meet the needs of your players at your Netball Centre.
Junior Development Support (Years 7-10)
Netball South Support for Centre-Led Junior Programmes
To support the delivery of quality junior development across the Netball South Zone by working alongside Centres to deliver engaging, age-appropriate sessions focused on fundamental movement, netball skill foundations, and building a lifelong love of sport.
This initiative aligns with Netball South’s commitment to player retention, movement literacy, and early-stage coach education, as well as Netball New Zealand’s Balance is Better and NetballSmart philosophies.
Objectives:
- Strengthen foundational movement and netball skills in junior players.
- Help Centres deliver safe, fun, and engaging development opportunities.
- Empower local coaches and volunteers to confidently lead junior sessions.
Programme Structure
Centre-Led Junior Development Initiatives
- Each Centre delivers its own development opportunities for Year 7–8 & 9-10 athletes
- These may include:
- Junior development days
- Festival-style skill days
Netball South Support Role Netball South will actively support these initiatives by providing
- Fundamental Movement Skill Sessions
- Coach Support & Modelling
- Resource Sharing
- Positive Sport messaging
Outcomes:
- Young athletes develop movement competency and confidence in a netball setting.
- Coaches are better supported to deliver fun, active, and safe sessions.
- A strong foundation is laid for future involvement in the Netball South pathway.
